Ilves signs Czech defenseman Dominik Mašín for the remainder of the season

Siru Hakala

Ilves has signed Czech defenseman Dominik Mašín, 25, to a contract that extends to the end of this season.
The 188-centimeter, 90-kilo, left-handed defenseman has previously played in the AHL and the KHL. In the KHL, Mašín has played for Amur Khabarovsk since last season recording 2+9=11 points in 47 regular season games. Mašín is a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2014 NHL Draft.

Mašín arrives in Finland on Saturday and will be available for Ilves immediately after all the steps concerning international player moves have been completed. Dominik Mašín will wear the number 97 in Ilves.
– We are very satisfied that, at this point in the season, we could acquire a player who can help us in every area of the game. Dominik brings versatility to our game and plays well with and without the puck. He can endure a lot of ice time and will help us win, said Ilves’ Sports Director Timo Koskela.
