Ilves players Otto Heinonen and Jani Nyman part of the U18 World Championship bronze-winning team

Finland’s U18 boys national team beat Czechia 4–1 in the U18 World Championship bronze medal game. The Finnish team included Ilves defenseman Otto Heinonen, 18, and forward Jani Nyman, 17.

The IIHF U18 World Championship tournament was played in Kaufbeuren and Landshut, Germany on April 23 – May 1. Sweden defeated the United States 6–4 to earn gold on Sunday night.

Ilves defenseman Otto Heinonen played five games in the tournament. Forward Jani Nyman scored 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in 6 games. Finland’s U18 boys national team head coach was Mika Marttila, who begins his work as Ilves development coach on May 16.
