Panu Mieho’s contract terminated

Ilves-Hockey Oy

Ilves and forward Panu Mieho, 27, have terminated their contract that would have run until spring 2024.

Panu Mieho scored 7 points (2 goals, 5 assists) in five CHL games and 23 Finnish league (Liiga) games this season which was his fifth season at the club. In total the forward, who was part of Ilves’ bronze medal team last season, recorded 85 points (32 goals, 53 assists) in 204 regular season games and 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) in 16 playoff games he played for Ilves.

– We thank Panu Mieho for all his work for Ilves and wish him good luck and success for the future. The club’s and player’s expectations weren’t fulfilled anymore this season so we reached this decision in good mutual understanding, says Ilves sports director Timo Koskela.

Mieho, a vice-captain of the team in three of his seasons at Ilves, thanks the club and its supporters for his time in Tampere.

– I want to thank the whole Ilves organisation for my time at the club and in Tampere and also for the the chance I was given to develop as a player and a human being. It has been an honor to play in front of the best supporters in Finland, experience the hockey boom in Tampere and see the best two equipment managers in Finland in their everyday work at firsthand – special thanks to Lasse (Laukkanen) and JP (Janne Jansson), says Mieho.

– We took this decision in mutual understanding with the club and I wish Ilves the best of luck in the future as well. It has been great to see how the organisation has developed and grown in recent years. Thank you, Ilves family!
